Tomaso PERANI

  • Tomaso Perani studied the organization and the exercise of criminal justice in Italian communes in the 13th and 14th centuries at the University of Milan. For his MA thesis (Laurea Magistrale) he worked on the late 13th century unpublished trial records of the Commune of Pavia. His PhD dissertation, defended in late 2009, examined the impact that the submission of the San Gimignano Commune to Emperor Frederick II had on the commune’s criminal court. In the period 2010-2012 he was part of the Milan Research Unit of the Research Project of National Interest, funded by the Italian Ministry of University, whose title was “The first regional Signorie in Northern Italy (mid 13th - early 15th century).” Tomaso joined the RELMIN team as a postdoctoral researcher and focuses on Italian sources.
